Lahore (Showbiz Desk) The Punjab Assembly has passed the Punjab Film City Authority Bill with a majority vote, paving the way for the development of the film industry in the province.
According to details, the Punjab Assembly session approved the Film City Authority Act 2026, under which a formal institution will be established to promote film production, drama, and documentaries.
The government of Punjab will bear the expenses of this authority, and a special fund will also be allocated for the development of the film industry.
The new law introduces a comprehensive system for film policy, regulations, and licensing, while filmmakers will be provided facilities, permits, and a one-window operation system.
The act also includes special incentives to encourage local and foreign investment, along with plans to establish film studios, a film city, and post-production facilities.
Under the authority, special training programs for new talent will be launched, along with grants, subsidies, and financial support for the industry.
The authority will also be empowered to promote Punjab’s culture, tourism, and positive image through the film industry, while also ensuring a mechanism for addressing industry-related complaints.
