Traffic Closure Leads to Shutdown of Attock Refinery Distillation Unit, Fuel Crisis Feared

Rawalpindi (Commerce Desk) Due to the 24-hour suspension of heavy traffic movement, the main distillation unit of Attock Refinery has been shut down.

According to refinery officials, crude oil supply has been severely reduced for the past four days, affecting production and forcing the shutdown of the unit.

Authorities have warned that if traffic restrictions are not lifted immediately, the refinery could face a complete shutdown, potentially leading to a serious fuel crisis in the country.

Refinery management also stated that the disruption could impact the supply of jet fuel at Islamabad and Peshawar airports.

The refinery’s Chief Executive said that transportation restrictions have badly affected both crude oil supply and finished petroleum product distribution, and relevant authorities have been informed of the situation.

He further cautioned that without urgent measures, the country’s energy sector could face severe challenges.
