Lahore (Sports Desk) — South Africa’s 20-year-old batsman Lhuan-dre Pretorius has broken Chris Gayle’s world record by scoring the highest individual innings in men’s T20 cricket.
Representing the Titans in South Africa’s domestic T20 league, the CSA T20 Challenge, Pretorius scored an unbeaten 188 off just 79 balls against the Knights.
The left-handed opener struck 15 fours and 13 sixes in his brilliant innings. He fell just 12 runs short of becoming the first batsman to score a double century in T20 cricket.
Previously, the record for the highest individual T20 score was held by Chris Gayle, who scored an unbeaten 175 for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Pune Warriors during the Indian Premier League in 2013.
Thanks to Pretorius’ record-breaking innings, the Titans scored 267 for 3, which is also the second-highest total in the history of the CSA T20 Challenge.
Among the highest individual scores in men’s T20 cricket are Lhuan-dre Pretorius with 188 not out, Chris Gayle with 175 not out, Aaron Finch with 172, Karan Bir Singh with 164, and Hamza Khan with 164 not out.
