Karachi (Commerce Desk) – One of the world’s largest container ships, MSC Erica, has docked at Karachi Port, marking an important development for port activities and maritime trade.
According to the Karachi Port Trust (KPT), the mega container vessel is 398.5 meters long and 59 meters wide, with a capacity to carry around 20,000 TEU containers.
Port authorities stated that the ship has a total internal volume of 194,308 metric tons, while its draft is 12 meters.
According to KPT, more than 3,000 containers are expected to be handled from MSC Erica at Karachi Port. After completing cargo operations, the vessel will depart for its next destination, China.
The port administration said that the arrival of such a large container ship reflects Karachi Port’s growing capacity, modern facilities, and Pakistan’s significant role in global maritime trade.
