Ahsan Iqbal Sets Target to Increase Exports to $100 Billion in 10 Years

Islamabad (Commerce Desk): Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has said Pakistan has the potential to increase its exports to $100 billion, stressing that promoting an export-oriented economy is essential for sustainable economic growth. He emphasised achieving the target within the next 10 years.

Addressing a ceremony in the federal capital, Ahsan Iqbal said comprehensive planning, effective policies and better coordination among different sectors would be necessary to achieve the goal.

He said political instability and frequent policy changes had affected the country’s economic planning. Maintaining policy continuity and ensuring political stability were essential for economic growth.

The minister said an integrated transport and logistics system was crucial for increasing exports. Without effective coordination among roads, railways, ports and aviation, achieving the desired growth would be difficult.

He added that delays in logistics increased export costs and weakened the competitiveness of Pakistani products in international markets. Improving transportation and delivery systems would enable Pakistani goods to reach global markets faster and at lower costs.

Ahsan Iqbal stressed that increasing exports, maintaining policy continuity and ensuring political stability could help Pakistan fully realise its economic potential.
