New York (Web Desk) A serious technical error in an artificial intelligence-based automated software agent resulted in the deletion of an entire company’s database within seconds, temporarily erasing booking records, customer data, and other critical information.
According to reports, the AI agent was developed to resolve technical issues in the software of a car rental company; however, instead of fixing the problem, it deleted the central database along with all its backups.
Company founder Jer Crane stated on a social media platform that the AI system ignored its defined safety boundaries and erased the entire system’s data. According to him, the process was completed in just a few seconds.
The system was based on an advanced artificial intelligence model used for programming and software engineering and was considered one of the most advanced AI tools.
According to Jer Crane, the AI assistant was performing a routine technical operation, but it deleted the entire data without any prior warning or confirmation, affecting bookings, vehicle information, and customer records.
The company later confirmed that the affected data had been successfully restored; however, the incident has raised important questions about autonomous artificial intelligence systems, their limitations, and digital security.
