Islamabad (Commerce Desk): Electricity has been made more expensive for consumers across the country. The national power regulatory authority has issued a notification increasing electricity prices under monthly and quarterly tariff adjustments.
According to the authority, under the monthly tariff adjustment, the price of electricity has been increased by Rs. 2.06 per unit. The impact of this increase will be reflected in electricity bills for September 2026. Due to the adjustment in the fuel price for July, an additional burden of Rs. 33 billion will be transferred to consumers.
On the other hand, under the quarterly tariff adjustment, a decision has been made to increase electricity prices by 52 paisa per unit. The relevant authorities have sent the decision regarding the adjustment of quarterly electricity prices for April to June 2026 to the federal government.
The quarterly increase will be applicable from September to November 2026, while its impact will also be felt by K-Electric consumers.
According to officials, as a result of the quarterly increase in electricity prices, electricity consumers will face an additional overall burden of Rs. 12.67 billion.
