Arrest Warrant Issued for Rakhi Sawant in Suicide Case

Mumbai (Showbiz Desk): A court in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against renowned Indian actress Rakhi Sawant in connection with a 2010 suicide case. Police have also been directed to arrest the actress and produce her before the court.

According to Indian media reports, the case relates to allegedly insulting and inappropriate remarks made about a man on Rakhi Sawant’s television programme, Rakhi Ka Insaaf. The man reportedly died by suicide later.

According to the report, an additional district and sessions judge at a fast-track court issued the non-bailable warrant on October 16 after the actress repeatedly failed to appear in court.

Government lawyer Mridul Kant Srivastava said the next hearing in the case is scheduled for December 1.

The case concerns the death of Laxman Ahirwar, a resident of the Hansari area in Prem Nagar, Jhansi, who died on November 10, 2010.

Following Laxman Ahirwar’s death, his mother, Savitri, filed a case. The complaint alleged that Rakhi Sawant had used insulting and inappropriate language about her son during an episode of her programme broadcast in October 2010.

After Rakhi Sawant repeatedly failed to appear during the court proceedings, a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against her. Further developments in the case are expected at the next hearing.
