Baghdad (Monitoring Desk): The 27th International Book Fair is underway in Iraq’s capital Baghdad this year with record international participation.
More than 600 publishers and various organizations from 28 countries are participating in the fair, marking the largest international participation in the history of the book fair. The participating countries include 17 Arab and 11 non-Arab countries, while a total of approximately 618 publishers, research, and cultural institutions have taken part in the fair.
Tens of thousands of new books have been put on display and offered for sale at the fair. China has participated in the Baghdad International Book Fair for the first time, while Oman has also rejoined the fair after a gap of 27 years.
The Baghdad International Book Fair will continue from September 2 to 12, 2026. This year, the theme of the fair is “Baghdad, Capital of Islamic Culture.”
