Mumbai (Sports Desk): Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar has called for a ban on unfit overseas players participating in the Indian Premier League.
He expressed this view in light of the recent performances of Cameron Green, who has struggled to make an impact while representing Kolkata Knight Riders in the early matches.
Green has scored 18, 2, and 4 runs in three matches and, despite being an all-rounder, has not bowled so far.
Gavaskar stated that players who are not fully fit or unavailable from the start should not be allowed to participate in the tournament.
He further added that if a player cannot contribute to the team with full capability, it is better for them to withdraw so that a replacement can be given an opportunity.
