England (Sports Desk): England cricket team captain Ben Stokes and fast bowler Gus Atkinson have come under scrutiny following an alleged incident at a nightclub, raising the possibility of a change in captaincy.
According to media reports, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has officially launched an investigation into the matter.
It is being suggested that young batter Harry Brook could be given the captaincy for the second Test against New Zealand if Ben Stokes is sidelined.
The report claims that a clash occurred at a nightclub involving cricketers and a rugby player, during which a fast bowler allegedly punched the rugby player. A security officer of the board was also injured in the incident, while the cricketers themselves remained safe.
The ECB stated that players have breached the code of conduct and strict disciplinary action may follow. However, initial reports suggest the situation has not been classified as fully violent, and police have not been involved in the case.
