Big Decision for Gwadar Port, Significant Reduction in Tariffs Announced

Karachi (Commerce Desk) Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry has announced a major step to turn Gwadar Port into a global transit traffic hub by significantly reducing port charges.

According to the Federal Minister, berthing fees for container ships have been reduced by 25 percent, while port charges on international transshipment containers have been cut by 40 percent. Similarly, charges on transit container cargo have also been reduced by up to 31 percent.

He further stated that a one-month free storage facility has also been introduced for general cargo to promote commercial activities.

Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said that special relief is being provided to vessels carrying transit and transshipment cargo, and record incentives are being offered at Gwadar compared to other national ports.

He added that practical implementation of the policy to develop Gwadar as a regional logistics hub has begun, which is expected to boost future trade activity.
