BJP Criticized Over Use of Pakistani Song in Video

Mumbai (Showbiz Desk): Social media users have questioned the use of a Pakistani song in a video shared by the official social media account of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.

The video, related to the Mumbai-Pune Missing Link infrastructure project, featured the Pakistani band Bayaan’s song “Safar” in the background. The song by the Lahore-based band is part of the album of the same name, released in 2024.

Users criticized the BJP for using the Pakistani song, saying that on one hand, restrictions are imposed in India on Pakistani artists and entertainment content related to Pakistan, while on the other hand, a political party is using Pakistani music in its promotional video.

Some users called it a double standard and questioned why the BJP included a Pakistani song in its video despite restrictions on Pakistani artists and music.

One user commented that opposing Pakistani artists and music in the name of nationalism and then using a Pakistani song when needed is hypocrisy.

Other users also criticized the BJP by pointing out the contradiction between the party’s anti-Pakistan stance and its use of a Pakistani song.
