Lahore (Sports Desk): During commentary on the opening day of the second Test between Pakistan and England at Lord’s, former captain Ramiz Raja shared an interesting incident about former coach Bob Woolmer’s prediction regarding Mohammad Asif.
According to Ramiz Raja, when he first met Mohammad Asif, the bowler had not yet played a match for Pakistan. While introducing him, Bob Woolmer had said that Asif would become a great bowler in the future.
Ramiz Raja said he asked about Asif’s pace, and Woolmer told him that he bowled at around 130 kilometers per hour. This surprised him because Pakistan was known for its fast bowlers.
According to him, Asif later proved himself to be an outstanding bowler through his accuracy and ability to place the ball precisely. Recalling his own era, Ramiz Raja said Pakistani bowlers at the time constantly pressured opponents with pace, reverse swing, yorkers, and bouncers, while an aggressive approach was their hallmark.
