Beijing (Web Desk) Chinese scientists have made a significant breakthrough in the energy sector by introducing a new and advanced method of generating electricity from coal, which experts say has the potential to drastically reduce or nearly eliminate carbon dioxide emissions.
Traditionally, electricity is produced by burning coal, which releases large amounts of air pollution and carbon dioxide. For this reason, there has been a global push toward cleaner and more environmentally friendly energy sources to reduce the impacts of climate change.
Chinese researchers have developed a new system in which coal is not directly burned. Instead, it is finely ground and processed through a special system before being used in a dedicated combustion chamber. In the second stage of the process, oxygen is supplied, and energy is generated through a specialized membrane-based system.
During this process, the carbon dioxide produced is captured within the system and is also being explored for conversion into useful gases.
According to experts, this advanced method can generate electricity with around 40% efficiency. If implemented on a large scale, it could not only help reduce the energy crisis but also significantly cut environmental pollution.
