Cristiano Ronaldo Denies Reports of International Retirement

Lahore (Sports Desk) — Renowned Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has rejected reports of his retirement from international football, saying that he wants to continue representing the Portugal national team.

The 41-year-old Portuguese captain left the Nations League camp last week after remaining on the bench as a substitute against Norway and not being included in the starting lineup against Denmark.

In his detailed statement, Ronaldo said the Portuguese Football Federation should review his actions and punish him, adding that he does not favor any reduction in the punishment. He said he had already apologized for his actions and knew that every action has consequences.

However, Ronaldo accused coach Jorge Jesus of breaking his trust, saying the coach had previously promised to put him on the field against Norway but failed to do so, which damaged his confidence.

Ronaldo said that if he remains physically fit, continues playing for his club and keeps scoring goals, he would like to continue representing Portugal.

He made it clear that once his suspension period is completed, he will be available as usual to play for the national team and help it achieve success.

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 146 goals in 234 appearances for Portugal, both of which are world records. He has also played a key role in helping Portugal win the 2016 European Championship and the Nations League title twice.
