Tibet (Monitoring Desk): Severe flash floods and landslides struck the Nepal-Tibet border region, causing widespread destruction and pushing the death toll above 300.
According to the Nepal Tourism Board, hundreds of tourists remain missing, including more than 100 Indian nationals and 12 British citizens.
Videos released from Tibet show a massive flow of water and mud crashing into buildings at the border crossing, while images from Nepal show people running toward safer locations to escape the sudden floods.
Nepal’s foreign minister expressed concern that the devastating floods may have been caused by an avalanche triggered by an earthquake. However, an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the disaster.
