Mumbai (Showbiz Desk) — Indian Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh has revealed that he broke down in tears after listening to a qawwali by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan before performing on stage.
During an Instagram Live session, Diljit Dosanjh said that while preparing for yoga before his show in Milan, he was listening to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s qawwali “Man Atkeya Beparwah De Naal.”
According to the singer, when the lines “Qazi Mulla Mitti Dende, Khare Siane Raah Dasinde” came in the qawwali, something inside him seemed to break. He sat on the yoga mat and cried for around 5 to 10 minutes before starting his yoga session.
Diljit Dosanjh said there is such truth in Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s poetry that it remains within a person long after listening to it, adding that some verses touch the heart and never leave.
This is not the first time Diljit Dosanjh has paid tribute to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Earlier, on September 12, he also performed “Sanson Ki Mala” during his concert at London’s Wembley Stadium, where around 90,000 people were present.
