Serbia (Sports Desk): Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic has set a new historic record at Wimbledon by securing the most wins in the men’s singles event.
Djokovic defeated qualifier Roman Safiullin in a hard-fought match with a scoreline of 6-7, 3-6, 6-3, 3-6 to qualify for the quarter-finals.
With this victory, the 39-year-old Djokovic achieved his 106th win at Wimbledon, breaking the previous record of 105 wins held by Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer.
According to statistics, Martina Navratilova still leads overall with 120 wins in women’s singles.
Djokovic is currently on a mission to win his eighth Wimbledon title and a record-extending 25th Grand Slam. His next potential challenge is expected to be against world number one Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals.
