Double Century Means Nothing Without a Win, Says Brook

Rawalpindi (Sports Desk): After England suffered defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka despite scoring 429 runs in the third match of the ODI tri-nation series, England captain Harry Brook said his double century meant nothing because his team had failed to win the match.

In the match played on Thursday at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, England batted first and scored 429 runs for the loss of four wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Captain Harry Brook batted aggressively, completing his double century off 114 balls with the help of 10 sixes and 21 fours. He was eventually dismissed for 202 runs.

In reply, Sri Lanka produced a remarkable chase, reaching the target of 430 runs for the loss of eight wickets on the fifth ball of the final over. With this victory, Sri Lanka also achieved the distinction of successfully chasing the second-highest target in the history of ODI cricket.

Speaking at a press conference after the match, Harry Brook said he had always believed in playing innings that help his team secure victory. He said he was not happy about scoring a double century when the team had still lost the match.

He stated that the double century held no significance for him because England had failed to win. Sri Lanka played excellent cricket, hitting boundaries while also rotating the strike through singles, and successfully chased down the target.

The England captain also praised the pitch at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. According to him, both teams scored a combined total of approximately 900 runs in the match, and he considered the pitch at Pindi Stadium excellent. Harry Brook also remarked that England flags could be seen in the stadium.
