Electricity Consumers May Face Additional Burden of Rs41 Billion

Islamabad (Commerce Desk): Another difficult development has emerged for electricity consumers, as electricity prices are likely to increase by Rs2.52 per unit under the July fuel price adjustment.

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has formally submitted an application to NEPRA seeking an increase in electricity prices.

According to NEPRA, a hearing on the application will be held on August 27. If the proposed increase is approved, electricity consumers will face an additional financial burden of approximately Rs41 billion, including GST.

The CPPA application also provides details of the various costs incurred in electricity generation during July.
