ISLAMABAD (Business Desk): Following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s latest directives regarding the reform and restructuring of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the need to grant the institution complete autonomy has been emphasised.
According to senior government sources, the objective of making the FBR autonomous is to eliminate interference based on personal preferences and ensure that the tax system operates more efficiently and smoothly.
The sources told The News on Friday that various reforms had been introduced in the tax system over the past three decades, while numerous detailed reports had also been prepared on the subject.
