Facebook AI Feature Raises Privacy Concerns

California (Web Desk): Caution is necessary before sharing any information on Facebook, as a public post may unexpectedly become useful for cybercriminals.

If a user shares personal matters, disagreements, or details about daily life on Facebook, and the same information appears in the future through an artificial intelligence-based search system, the situation could become a cause for concern.

According to reports, Facebook’s new artificial intelligence-based search system is using public posts as informational content. While this may make access to information easier, it could also increase concerns regarding cybercrime and the spread of misinformation.

Facebook is preparing to introduce major changes to its search system, after which the search bar will no longer only look for keywords but will work like an intelligent assistant, providing users with information in a question-and-answer format.

Through the new system, users will be able to easily search for years-old public posts, comments, and other available information. This feature could bring up content within moments that was previously difficult to find among thousands of posts.

Experts say that this artificial intelligence-based feature can make access to information faster and easier; however, it may also increase concerns related to user privacy and online security.

Experts say that if public posts begin to be searched and analyzed more effectively through artificial intelligence, individuals involved in cyber fraud could use available user information to target them.

Users have been advised to avoid keeping posts containing personal information public and to limit their privacy settings. For this purpose, users can go to Facebook settings and use the option "Limit Old Public Posts", which can restrict older public posts to friends only.
