FIFA Bans Water Bottles in Stadiums for World Cup 2026

Zurich (Sports Desk) — FIFA has imposed a ban on spectators bringing reusable water bottles into stadiums during the 2026 World Cup.

According to international media reports, the decision comes after a last-minute amendment to stadium security regulations. Previously, transparent and empty reusable plastic bottles were allowed inside stadiums, but under the new rules, even such bottles will now be prohibited.

FIFA said that items such as bottles, cups, jars, and cans could pose safety risks to players, referees, and spectators if thrown inside the stadium, which is why the measure has been introduced.

The organization stated that the safety of players, staff, and fans remains its top priority, which is why such restrictions are being enforced.

Fans have also expressed concerns about access to drinking water in hot weather, as temperatures in some host cities are expected to range between 26°C and 28°C.

FIFA has assured that special hydration points, cooling stations, and other facilities will be provided around stadiums to ensure water availability.

It is worth noting that the 2026 World Cup will be held from June 11 to July 19 across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
