Lahore (Sports Desk) – The FIFA World Cup 2026 has officially been declared the largest global football tournament in history.
For the first time, the tournament will feature 48 teams and a total of 1,248 players on the field.
The mega event will begin on June 12 and will be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, marking the first time the World Cup will be held across three countries simultaneously.
This time, the tournament format has been completely changed, with 48 teams divided into 12 groups, each containing four teams.
A total of 104 matches will be played, making the competition longer, more exciting, and highly competitive.
According to reports, among the 1,248 participating players, 357 have previously played in a World Cup, while 891 players will be making their debut on football’s biggest stage.
