Peshawar (Pakistan Desk): Robotic surgery has been introduced for the first time in Peshawar at the Lady Reading Hospital, providing patients with access to advanced medical facilities within their own city.
According to details, with the introduction of this modern treatment method, patients suffering from certain conditions will no longer need to travel to other cities. The initial robotic surgery workshop was conducted through collaboration between the hospital’s urology department and senior doctors from the United Kingdom.
Hospital spokesperson Muhammad Asim explained that robotic surgery is an advanced technique in which operations are still performed by surgeons, but with the assistance of a sophisticated robotic system. This system uses highly precise instruments and high-definition cameras to provide a clear view of internal body structures.
Experts say that this technology allows complex surgeries to be performed with greater accuracy while minimizing the chances of human error. It also results in smaller incisions, reduced blood loss, lower risk of infection, and faster recovery for patients.
Head of the urology department, Dr Azra Ghani, and her team described the robotic surgery workshop as a significant milestone, made possible with full support from the hospital administration.
