Quetta (Commerce Desk): Flour prices continue to rise in Quetta, with the price per kilogram increasing by Rs15, from Rs145 to Rs160.
According to market sources, the price of a 20-kilogram bag of flour has also increased by Rs300, rising from Rs2,900 to Rs3,200.
Sources say that since March, the price of flour per kilogram has increased by a total of Rs40, while the price of a 20-kilogram bag has risen by Rs800.
Meanwhile, in the outskirts of Quetta, a 20-kilogram bag of flour is being sold for as much as Rs3,250, while its officially fixed price in the city is Rs2,640.
The increase in flour prices has also made it difficult for residents to afford bread. According to citizens, bakers have reduced the weight of bread sold for Rs40, citing rising flour prices as the reason. Instead of the prescribed weight of 310 grams, bread now weighs between 230 and 270 grams.
Residents have urged the district administration to take effective measures to ensure that flour and bread are sold at officially fixed prices.
