Nigeria (Sports Desk) Former Nigerian footballer Michael Eneramo passed away suddenly during a friendly football match.
According to British media, the 40-year-old former player reportedly suffered a heart attack. The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed his death, stating that the incident occurred during a local friendly match in Ungwan Yelwa area of Kaduna on Friday morning.
Reports suggest that he collapsed unexpectedly in the fifth minute of the second half of the match. Initial information indicates that the cause of death was a heart attack.
In a condolence message, the Federation’s General Secretary called the incident heartbreaking and prayed for strength and patience for the bereaved family.
Michael Eneramo played for various clubs across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East during his career. He made his debut for the Nigerian national team in 2009 and played a total of 10 international matches.
