Paris (Monitoring Desk): France has called for the full implementation of United Nations Security Council sanctions on Iran.
Speaking to reporters, France’s ambassador to the UN, Jérôme Bonnafont, said that strict enforcement of the reinstated sanctions on Iran is essential, adding that an appropriate committee chair should be appointed immediately to ensure effective monitoring.
He said this position is not only held by France but is also supported by the United States, European countries, and some Arab states.
The French envoy said concerns regarding Iran’s nuclear program cannot be ignored, but emphasized that France supports a diplomatic solution to the issue.
He further stated that a credible, strong, and verifiable agreement is necessary to ensure stability in the region.
According to him, effective implementation of UN resolutions and international monitoring are key foundations for a sustainable resolution of the conflict.
