Gilgit-Baltistan elections: strict code of conduct imposed, entry of top officials restricted

Gilgit-Baltistan (Pakistan News) — Important decisions have been taken to ensure transparency and neutrality in the electoral process ahead of the elections.

During the election campaign, the entry of the President, Prime Minister, Chairman Senate, and federal ministers into the region for participation in political activities has been restricted.

Chief Election Commissioner Raja Shahbaz Khan stated that full and strict implementation of the code of conduct will be ensured during the elections. He warned that any candidate or related individual violating the code of conduct could be disqualified.

The Election Commission has enforced Section 234 in Gilgit-Baltistan for the elections. All political parties are being given equal importance, and any violation will not be tolerated.

A comprehensive security plan has been prepared for the electoral process, divided into three phases to effectively maintain law and order.

The Chief Election Commissioner further stated that individuals or candidates violating the code of conduct may also face expulsion from Gilgit-Baltistan.
