Gilgit (Pakistan Desk): The Election Commission in Gilgit-Baltistan has withheld results in four constituencies and decided to hold re-polling at several polling stations.
According to the Election Commission, results of 10 polling stations in constituency GBLA-8 Skardu have been declared void, and a notification has been issued for re-polling on June 15.
Sources said that Pakistan Peoples Party candidate Syed Muhammad Ali Shah had alleged irregularities and mismanagement at certain polling stations, prompting the decision.
It was further stated that results in GBLA-15 Diamer-I, GBLA-16 Diamer-II, and GBLA-17 Diamer-III have also been temporarily halted.
The Election Commission has directed that no final results be announced until re-polling is completed, and counting of postal ballots as well as issuance of final results has been suspended.
The Chief Election Commissioner of Gilgit-Baltistan said all results will be consolidated after re-polling before the final announcement is made.
