Goods Transporters Urge Halt to Diesel Price Hikes

Karachi (Commerce Desk): The All Pakistan Goods Transport Owners Association has expressed concern over the continuous increase in diesel prices, urging the government to immediately stop raising prices and review the mechanism for determining petroleum product prices.

Association President Muhammad Owais Chaudhry said that the increase in diesel prices directly affects transporters and the public, while also increasing freight charges and the cost of industry and trade.

He called on the government to immediately review the taxes and duties imposed on diesel and provide relief to transporters from rising costs.

Muhammad Owais Chaudhry said petroleum product prices should be reviewed every 15 days instead of daily and that a 15-day system should be introduced for price adjustments.

He said stabilizing diesel prices would support the transport sector and could also help reduce inflation.
