California (Web Desk) — Google Messages has introduced a new long-press menu for users from October 1, 2026, aimed at making message usage and access to various options more convenient.
Following the new update, pressing and holding a message for a short time will provide important options in a single menu, including replying, forwarding, copying, starring, deleting, selecting more messages and viewing information. Options to remix and save images have also been added.
The new menu will work more effectively in both light and dark modes, as well as in landscape orientation. An important feature of the update is that users will be able to select and copy a specific part of a message instead of the entire message.
A separate menu will appear for selected text, offering options to copy, translate and select the entire text.
Google has also improved the process of selecting messages. When the latest message is selected, an animation and a slight vibration notification will appear, while the selected message will be highlighted in the center of the screen.
If the new features do not appear on the phone, force-closing Google Messages and reopening it may activate the update.
