Islamabad (Commerce Desk): The government borrowed Rs215 billion in July, the first month of fiscal year 2026-27, while also receiving grants worth Rs5 billion.
According to a document from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Rs120 billion was received in July under non-project funding, including budget support and short-term loans, while approximately Rs95 billion was received through project funding.
According to the report, total receipts from foreign loans and grants in July amounted to $763 million, which was $68.5 million higher than the $694.5 million received during the same month of the previous fiscal year.
According to the Economic Affairs Division, receipts from bilateral and multilateral loans were lower than last year, while funds raised through Naya Pakistan Certificates increased significantly.
According to the document, $343.99 million was raised through both conventional and Islamic Naya Pakistan Certificates, while the amount received through these certificates increased by approximately $148 million over one year.
In July, Germany provided $9.94 million and Saudi Arabia provided $7.4 million in bilateral financial assistance.
According to the report, a total of $252.83 million was received from multilateral financial institutions. The Asian Development Bank released $59.17 million, while the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank provided $6.57 million.
According to the Economic Affairs Division, the World Bank and its affiliated institutions provided Pakistan with $130 million, the largest amount received from multilateral financial institutions in July.
