Islamabad (Commerce Desk) — The federal government has decided to abolish 60% of permanent posts in the accounts system that have remained vacant for one year or more, and relevant authorities have been issued instructions in this regard.
The Controller General of Accounts has issued a letter to Financial Advisers and Chief Accounts Officers in light of the federal cabinet’s decision of August 27, 2024.
The letter stated that, under a report on institutional reforms, it had been recommended that posts vacant for at least one year be abolished. The purpose is to reduce the size of institutions according to their requirements and bring austerity to government spending.
However, posts that have remained vacant because they were reserved for transfers, appointments or promotions will not be included among the posts to be abolished.
According to the instructions, posts to be abolished in each cadre will be deducted from the quotas for initial appointments and direct recruitment on the basis of the vacancy roster.
All Financial Advisers and Chief Accounts Officers have also been directed to review their respective vacancy rosters or prepare new rosters and process promotion-related cases accordingly.
