Jeddah (Monitoring Desk): An air defense system operated by the Greek military intercepted a group of drones over a large area of Yanbu in Saudi Arabia.
According to a news agency, Greek security sources said Greek military personnel stationed in Saudi Arabia took action against a swarm of drones on Thursday. During the operation, the Greek military’s Patriot air defense system launched three missiles.
According to sources, the operation was conducted in coordination and cooperation with Saudi air defense systems. However, information about the total number of drones, the number intercepted, and the party responsible for the attack was not available.
Yanbu is an important coastal area of Saudi Arabia and home to major oil-refining facilities. As a result, any drone or missile attack there is considered sensitive for energy infrastructure and global oil supplies.
Patriot is an advanced surface-to-air defense system used against various aerial threats.
