MUMBAI (Showbiz Desk): Renowned Bollywood director Priyadarshan has expressed pessimism about the future of Hera Pheri 3, saying that completing the film appears difficult under the current circumstances.
The 69-year-old filmmaker directed the popular comedy Hera Pheri, released in 2000, but has now distanced himself from its third instalment.
In an exclusive interview with the Indian newspaper Hindustan Times, Priyadarshan discussed the challenges surrounding the film’s production, saying the project was facing so many problems that it would take several chapters to explain them all.
According to the director, he no longer expects Hera Pheri 3 to be made at all.
Earlier, in July this year, Priyadarshan had also clarified that he was not currently involved in the film. He identified legal disputes and personal differences as major obstacles to the project.
The filmmaker also cited his strained relationship with producer Firoz Nadiadwala as a key reason for his departure from the film.
Priyadarshan’s latest remarks have further increased uncertainty among fans of the popular comedy franchise about whether the film will be produced and released.
It is worth mentioning that Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal played the lead roles in Hera Pheri and its sequel, Phir Hera Pheri. Both films received an enthusiastic response from audiences.
