California (Web Desk) — Meta-owned photo and video-sharing app Instagram is reportedly testing a new and unique feature called “Read-Only Mode,” which will allow users to view content on the platform without leaving a prominent digital trace.
According to the report, when “Read-Only Mode” is activated, users will be able to browse various content available on Instagram. However, they will not be allowed to use several basic features, including liking posts, commenting, sending messages, following accounts and viewing Stories.
The mode is being described as somewhat similar to “Incognito Mode,” with the aim of allowing users to view content on Instagram without leaving a prominent digital record of their activities.
The report claims that the feature could potentially be introduced for users of Instagram’s monthly subscription service, “Instagram Plus.”
