Iran: Supreme Leader holds key authority in state policy decisions, officials say

Tehran (Monitoring Desk) The United States delegation has postponed its visit after Iran has not yet agreed to participate in the second round of ceasefire negotiations being hosted by Pakistan.

According to international media, a senior government official said that the Iranian delegation in talks with the United States is acting under the instructions of Supreme Leader Mujtaba Khamenei.

Elias Hazraty, a senior Iranian government communications official, said that all negotiators in the Iranian delegation are bound by collective decisions and all actions are taken under the guidance of the Supreme Leader.

He said that in Iran’s state policy, major decisions rest with the Supreme Leader, who holds a central position.

The report further stated that due to the lack of a final decision by Iran regarding participation in the second round of talks, the US delegation has announced the postponement of its visit to Pakistan.

It is worth mentioning that Supreme Leader Mujtaba Khamenei assumed the position in early March this year, and since then he has rarely appeared in public, while his messages are often released in written form in Iranian media.
