Washington (Monitoring Desk) — A Congressional Research Service report has revealed that at least 81 US military aircraft were destroyed or damaged during the war against Iran. The affected aircraft included fighter jets, helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles.
According to the report, MQ-9 Reaper drones suffered the heaviest losses, with at least 45 lost during operations against Iran.
US aircraft losses were not limited to Iranian attacks. Three aircraft were destroyed in a US firing incident inside Kuwait in March, while an F-15E fighter jet was also destroyed over Iran in April.
The report stated that 15 F-18 aircraft were damaged in an Iranian attack on an airbase in Jordan in September, although they were later restored to operational condition.
In addition, one F-35A, two A-10s and KC-135 aircraft were also affected.
