Washington (Monitoring Desk): The US Department of Defense, the Pentagon, has confirmed that around 100 American military personnel have been injured during the ongoing two-week war with Iran.
According to Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell, approximately 100 US personnel have suffered different types of injuries since July 7; however, 96 percent of them have already returned to duty.
This information comes at a time when the United States has revealed the identities of two more soldiers killed in Iranian attacks.
Earlier, the Pentagon stated that since February 28, a total of 14 US military personnel have been killed and 427 injured in operations related to Iran.
According to US officials, the death toll may increase further due to Iranian retaliatory attacks on American military bases in northern Iraq and Jordan.
According to US media reports, the American military is examining some unidentified human remains recovered from the site of an Iranian attack in Jordan, raising concerns that the number of fatalities could increase.
The United States has already confirmed the deaths of three American soldiers in Iranian attacks, while one military personnel member remains missing. According to the US military, one service member was killed during an operation in northern Iraq on July 18.
Earlier, two American soldiers were killed and one went missing in an Iranian missile attack on Jordan, while four personnel were injured.
The US military has been targeting Iranian positions at night for more than a week. The United States says the purpose of these operations is to prevent Iran from attacking commercial ships, while Iran has responded by targeting American facilities in Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, and other allied countries.
According to the Defense Casualty Analysis System, which maintains records of military deaths and injuries, 413 US military personnel have been injured in operations since the conflict between the United States and Iran began; however, this figure does not include injuries reported during the current month.
