Tehran (Monitoring Desk) — Iran’s chief negotiator and parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has warned that if Iran’s security is not guaranteed, no infrastructure in the region will remain safe from attacks.
In a video statement released by Iranian state media, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said that if Iran is not allowed to sell oil, no other country in the region will be allowed to sell oil either.
He said that if Iran’s security is not ensured, no infrastructure in the region will remain safe.
Ghalibaf’s statement comes at a time when the resumption of oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz has become a key issue in the ongoing dispute between Iran and the United States.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has also said that the decision to reopen the Strait of Hormuz is conditional on certain Iranian demands being met, while Tehran is waiting for a response from the United States.
According to reports, Qatar is playing a role in exchanging proposals between Iran and the United States through mediation. According to Araghchi, discussions have taken place between Tehran and Qatari mediators regarding the conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, while the final US response will be conveyed to Iran through Qatar.
Ghalibaf’s latest warning comes at a time when concerns remain over energy infrastructure in the region and the global transportation of oil.
Meanwhile, efforts toward a ceasefire and negotiations between the United States and Iran are also continuing. According to Reuters, the two countries have held separate talks through mediators, including discussions on restoring the Strait of Hormuz and finding a way to end the conflict.
