Islamabad local body elections: ECP seeks important delimitation documents urgently

Islamabad (Pakistan News) As part of preparations for local government elections, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has urgently called for key documents related to delimitation.

The ECP has directed the Ministry of Interior and the Chief Commissioner Islamabad to submit the notification regarding the boundaries of town corporations within three days. It has also ordered the immediate provision of notifications about the number of union councils in each town corporation.

Furthermore, verified maps of town corporations showing charges, circles, and blocks according to the census have also been sought.

According to the Election Commission, in a meeting held on May 13, the Islamabad administration was given a 10-day deadline; however, even after the expiry of the stipulated time, the required documents were not provided, causing delays in the delimitation process.

The Commission has made it clear that progress on delimitation for Islamabad local government elections depends on the timely submission of these documents, while instructions have also been issued for swift progress on relevant legislation and amendments to rules.
