Gaza (Monitoring Desk) The Israeli military has claimed that it carried out an airstrike targeting a senior commander of Hamas.
According to the Israeli military statement, the operation in northern Gaza targeted a commander identified as Imad Hassan Hussein Aslam, who was allegedly holding a key military position within the group.
The statement further claimed that Aslam served as a commander of the Zeitoun Battalion and deputy head of the Gaza City Brigade, and was involved in multiple operations.
The report said the strike was carried out on Wednesday. However, Hamas has not issued an official response to the claim so far.
If independently confirmed, this would mark the third reported killing of a senior commander in the past two weeks, raising concerns of further escalation in the ongoing tensions in the region.
