Israeli Drone Strike in Southern Lebanon Despite Ceasefire

Beirut (Commerce Desk) — Despite a ceasefire agreement, Israel has once again carried out a drone strike in southern Lebanon, leaving several people injured.

According to the Lebanese National News Agency, a vehicle was targeted on the Zefta–Kafroua road in southern Lebanon, causing panic in the area and injuring multiple individuals.

The attack comes at a time when the governments of Israel and Lebanon had agreed to a ceasefire following US-mediated talks in Washington, D.C.

Reports say it is still unclear whether Hezbollah will comply with Israeli demands to withdraw its forces south of the Litani River.

Meanwhile, Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir strongly criticized the US-mediated agreement, calling it a serious mistake and an unrealistic plan. He said the deal is pushing the prime minister toward wrong decisions.

Earlier, a joint statement from the US State Department said that Lebanon and Israel had agreed to a ceasefire aimed at ending ongoing hostilities.

The statement added that both sides had agreed the ceasefire would depend on Hezbollah fully stopping fire and withdrawing all its fighters from the southern Litani sector.
