Lahore (Showbiz Desk): Renowned Pakistani showbiz actress Maryam Nafees has said that a major cause of domestic disputes is the attitude of mothers-in-law who consider themselves always right and view their daughters-in-law as incompetent in every matter, which leads to problems within households.
She stated that it is not appropriate to place the full responsibility of serving the in-laws on the daughter-in-law, and according to Islamic teachings, children should be given the opportunity to live independently after marriage.
According to the actress, although her son Isa is not even one year old yet, she is mentally prepared from now to allow her son to live separately after marriage in the future.
Maryam Nafees further said that in families where financial constraints make a separate home impossible, daughters-in-law should still be given adequate freedom and space within the house, even to the extent of having a separate kitchen.
It is worth mentioning that Maryam Nafees is married to film director Aman Ahmed, and they are parents of one child.
She expressed these views while speaking about in-law relationships and domestic matters in a morning show on a private TV channel.
