Italy (Monitoring Desk) – Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has announced the suspension of military cooperation with Israel.
According to media reports, the prime minister stated that the military agreement between Italy and Israel was nearing renewal. However, in light of the current situation, the government has decided to halt its automatic extension.
She clarified that the agreement, originally signed in 2016, included cooperation in military equipment and research, and required renewal every five years.
The development comes at a time when Italy’s Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, during a visit to Lebanon, strongly criticized Israeli bombardment, calling attacks on innocent civilians unacceptable.
