Jawad Ahmed Cheema Appointed CEO of Pakistan State Oil

Karachi: Pakistan State Oil has appointed Jawad Ahmed Cheema as its new Chief Executive Officer, who will assume his responsibilities from May 18, 2026.

According to an official statement, his appointment has been made for a three-year term with the approval of the PSO board. He will replace interim head Abdul Sami.

The newly appointed CEO brings over 28 years of extensive experience in the energy sector, having served in key roles across Asia and Europe.

Jawad Ahmed Cheema previously served as the head of Shell Pakistan and also worked as Vice President for strategy and portfolio at Shell plc.

In recent years, he also led the Karachi Hydrocarbon Terminal.

Experts believe that the appointment of new leadership at PSO is likely to bring improvements and more effective strategies to Pakistan’s energy sector.
