Peshawar (Pakistan News): Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, has expressed strong reaction over issues related to wheat supply from the Punjab government.
Speaking to the media, he said that if Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz can arrange “bread in Baku,” then there should be no reason why wheat cannot be provided to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He added that the provincial government and Governor House would work together for the rights of the province. He emphasized that he has always advocated for acting as a bridge between the federation and provinces and will continue efforts to resolve provincial issues.
Faisal Karim Kundi said that all political parties should cooperate to resolve the issues facing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He also stated that internal grouping within PTI is their own matter and it would not be appropriate to comment prematurely.
He further said that any restriction on wheat supply is a violation of the constitution, and making wheat procurement from Punjab as difficult as “bringing gold biscuits” is unfair to the people of the province.
He urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to immediately address the issue or remove obstacles in importing wheat from Sindh.
The governor said that restrictions on wheat and flour supply from Punjab amount to injustice against the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He questioned what would happen if electricity, gas, and water supplies from KP were also blocked.
He added that the federation is not providing due rights to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and stressed that all political parties must think in the broader national interest.
