Lahore (Pakistan News) – Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz said that she pays tribute to the dignity of workers and that their hard work is the foundation of a strong economy.

In her special message on International Workers’ Day, the Chief Minister paid tribute to the services of workers around the world. She also appreciated the struggle of working women who support their families.

Maryam Nawaz said that providing fair wages, a safe working environment, health facilities, and quality education for children of workers is a government priority. She added that the Punjab government is committed to improving the standard of living and prosperity of workers, saying that workers are friends of Allah and their respect is our responsibility.

She stated that the Punjab government is providing ration cards and a monthly subsidy of 3,000 rupees to more than 1.4 million workers, while millions of workers are also being given free treatment in social security hospitals and dispensaries.

The Chief Minister said that under housing projects for workers, 750 flats have been provided so far, while another 1,872 flats will be given. A bachelor hostel for 700 workers is also being established at Quaid-e-Azam Business Park Sheikhupura.

She further said that Maryam Nawaz Vigilance Centres and teleclinics are being set up for workers, while the Occupational Safety and Health Management Centre at Nawaz Sharif Social Security Teaching Hospital will soon become operational.

According to Maryam Nawaz, marriage grants for workers have been increased from 400,000 to 600,000 rupees and death grants from 800,000 to 1 million rupees. For the first time in Lahore, “Gosha Mazdoor” has also been established where workers can rest and access facilities.
